During the Cambodian genocide, which lasted from 1975-1979, approximately 1.7 million – 21% of the population – people were killed.

Victims

Large numbers of members of the political opposition, town and city dwellers, the educated middle-classs and administrators, ethnic Chinese and Vietnamese, Buddhist monks, Muslims.

Perpetrators

The Khmer Rouge regime, led by Pol Pot.
